Blogging for ... Myself?
Is it weird that we started this almost a year ago? I say... yes.
Not Top Ten, But Top Things Going On In My Life
10. Molly - crazy ass child of mine! She got spayed two weeks ago, so we've been getting her back out in the social scene this week. Monday we went to the river, dog park and on a walk; Tuesday was river, Wednesday was dog park and today was dog park again before puppy class! So it's been an exhausting week for her, which is good news for me... I get to sleep through a night!
9. Falls Hall is CUH-LOSED - I survived my first year! Officially! Success! It is totally and completely hard to believe that I made it. Definitely not easy, definitely a learning experience, definitely know things to do and not to do next year!
8. San Diego - next Friday! OMG, so excited! All day Friday with Kim = Horton Plaza, dessert, DOWNTOWN (OMG, squee!), Saturday is more goodness, and Vanessa's wedding and Sunday at the ass-crack of dawn, I leave.
7. Home - I'm going home home June 8, until the 14th. A long time. So I get to see my mom's annual teacher-student softball game, my hair gets pretty-fied again (!!) and I'm going to Disneyland for free (hooray Grad Nite with Doug)! Exciting.
6. Camps - Summer camps and conferences start June 1st here; I'm running two buildings this summer. Whew! I have a staff of 8 and another hall director here until the end of June to help me, and then it's alllll mine. Yay?
5. Knee Surgery - Take two. Boo. Lame. Grr. It's scheduled for July 7. Mom's coming out the 6-13 to help me get moving again and know that I'll be okay. I am excited I have such amazing parents. :) I told her I would be okay after the 13th, she just wants to play it by year and see. I told her that I have enough people here to help me otherwise. But I'm glad she's here for a week. Yay!
4. VEGAS - we need to get planning! I can't wait... and it's like four months away!!
3. Summer - Summer makes me antsy. I think partially because I'm used to doing SO much because I've never worked full-time. Well, that's a lie, that summer in SD was pretty much full time. But still. I'm already feeling so antsy and it's technically only day four. I guess it's a good thing conferences are rolling in soon.
2. Sea World - so there's a Sea World in San Antonio, right? One of my residents is a performer there, so she hooked us (Blue, Jessica, Nikki and me) with fun cards, employee style. So all we pay is THIRTY DOLLARS (yep, as in 3-0, $30!!!) and we get a fun card for now until December 31. Keep in mind that everything down here is based on tourist season, so I think Sea World here closes after Halloween, but whatever. $30 for all we want? Done. And... this one has a water park!! Squee!
1. I think that's it.
Love and miss y'all!

Top 10 Things Going On in My Life:
1. I LOVE Utah!!! Sarah, Lindsay, and I are hiking and walking almost everyday. It's so much fun. I kinda love my state.
2. When students leave (or it's summer semester), it's supposed to be quiet. So, why do I have crazy amount of meetings?
3. I consulted at BYU last Friday and ran an 8 hour retreat for the Union the day before. Presenting wipes me out. In two weeks, I'm facilitating the division-wide planning meeting. Woo!
4. Sarah and I are roomies, and it's great fun. She also works across the hall from me on websites. We're eating ice cream with blackberries in it tonight.
5. I go to Portland in a few weeks for the NASPA Region V Board meeting. I'm a little nervous.
6. August 14-16 or whatever weekend that is, I'm going to San Diego to visit. WSU should pay me more so that I can visit people more.
7. I love to tan. Yes, I'm addicted again.
8. Did I mention that we have ice cream?
9. Drove and hour and 15 minutes to find Ikea this weekend. It was totally worth it.
10. I like movie/relax nights.
Love you both and miss you!

Poor Molly
I think my puppy has a bladder infection.
And all this time, I thought she was just impossible to train.
We'll find out Monday, I hope.

Long Time
So I decided that it's been almost a month since anyone's written (ahem, Kim, I think it's your turn!), so someone better say something. So hi, here I am.
Spring Break officially ends tomorrow. My 400 crazies are back at noon. Le sigh. But it's okay-- two months and they're done! Woo! And then it's summer camps and conferences. I'm running two buildings this summer, yay fun times. Should be interesting, that's for sure, huh?
Doug and I are meeting in Vegas on Wednesday night. I'm super excited-- granted, it's *only* been three months since I saw him last time, but I need it. So we're there Wednesdsay night until Saturday mid-day. So it's like my vacation since I didn't get away during Spring Break. Woot!
Also, I think we need an annual (or bi-annual) girls' trip to Vegas. Or somewhere. Thoughts?
I don't have much to say, really. RA Selection is over-- I have 5 of 10 RAs returning next year-- dang good, if I do say so myself. I would have had 6, but one decided she's not happy enough in the job and she didn't get accepted as a transfer RA to another hall (I'm convinced she doesn't like me, but whatever). So I have 4 brand new RAs and one transfer RA. One of the newbies will be hired in the next two weeks so I'm not missing an RA come closing in May (remember, I fired one in January). So... cross your fingers, my life will get easier soon. Yayyyy!
Okay, truly nothing to say. Molly is a crazy. And I love her. And unlike Youshi over there, she HATES HATES HATES the blow-dryer. :)

Ohhh life...
1. I couldn't think of a more creative title. I gave blood today, so I'm still a lil sleepy, but I really should proof my presentation for tomorrow (which I have to drive 5 silly hours for). I thought this was a good idea to drive down there and back tomorrow, but now, I'm starting to question it. :)
2. I'm beginning to question if presenting so much is such a good idea. Next year, I'm limiting myself to two conferences...period. No more regional or statewide conferences or else I may wear myself out.
3. I need to take a vacation day during the middle of the week.
4. Next week is NASPA woo!
5. I'm going back to number these comments now.
6. Sarah and I moved back our half marathon until August 29 because the Ogden half filled up really fast. We're going to register for this one when it opens on March 1st.
7. I really like my job, but sometimes there is just too much to do. Other times, there is not enough. What the heck is that all about?
8. I seriously wish our state legislature would decide on budget cuts already. I think the speculation is ridiculous!
9. I think I need a spa day. I wonder if there is a cheap-ish spa near by. Or, maybe I'll eat a roll of cookie dough and call that a spa day. :)
10. I would like to visit the beach...pronto.
Miss you all and love ya!
Oh, Supervision
I hate being micro-managed. Even more, I hate having to micro-manage the staff I have.
So why, praytell, do I have to every other day? Why is it that they don't GET that their paperwork has deadlines for reasons, that I'm not asking for all these stupid forms for ha-ha's, but that they do have a purpose.
Annoyed. I don't get it.

Urgh.
I'm tired of yelling at students to stop being stupid. Turn your bass down, the entire north side of the building does NOT need to hear Rihanna all night long. Get off your skateboard, you kind of deserved it when I shoved you off of it the other night. Just stop being stupid! End of story.
I also wonder why our live-in graduate assistant can't walk out of her own doorway to tell them to be quiet, but instead texts me to tell my RA on that floor to go talk to them. Um, no. You're the GA for Student Conduct, do it yourself.
I'm really glad this week is over, but really dreading the start of next week too. Two all-hall meetings to discuss the almost-$2,000 worth of damages and cleaning fees my 390 kids have accrued in just two weeks is going to be a blasty blast.
Urgh. I also need to go invest in potty pads 'caus Molly isn't understanding that when I let her out of the crate, she needs to go to the door to tell me she needs out. Hooray for needing to mop the entire house again...

Grown Up

Trying to say hi... from the both of us.
I feel like such a grown up this weekend. Up on Saturday morning by 9 without an alarm, straight to Petsmart with Molly for Advantage, then to Walgreen's refill my allergy medication, then to the car wash (where Molly got lots of love).
Then home, lunch, and to Target for lots of cleaning stuff. Then the outlets, a nap, and now Molly and I are finishing dinner and the laundry is going. I need to vacuum and Swiffer tonight, do the dishes, and put away clothes.
When did I become a grown-up?
Also... my little girl is 10 pounds! Holy moly.

New Year's
So I got back to Texas on Saturday, and at first was actually pretty down about it. Part of it though, I think, was feeling super isolated since I saw no one at all. Now that we're back in the swing of things, socializing and what not, it's kind of okay. Just gotta get in the groove since my new RAs move in on Thursday and returners are back on Friday. Yay, woo. Training is Friday-Monday, then students slowly start trickling back. Yay.
So the recent news is that my face exploded. Ugh. So just before Thanksgiving, the tooth I have a crown on was giving me problems, then it went away by the time I went to the dentist in December, he said no biggie. Last week, it started hurting again, but I could never pin-point it on that tooth. New Year's Day or so, my gums started really hurting and I thought 'Um, okay, weird.' It gradually kept hurting, got a little worse, but I just prayed it'd go away! Come Saturday, combined with pressure from flying back, it got real bad, and by Sunday morning my left cheek and jawline was swelled. I thought it was in my head until this morning, when I yawned and thought 'Oooooh, that's no good.' The first thing our admin assistants said to me was "Is your face swollen? Did you have surgery? What happened?" Then I realized it wasn't in my head. One of them told me she thought it was an abscess. Ew. So I raced down to the minor emergency clinic, confirmed it was an abscess, got yelled at for not really taking my allergy medications, and got 3 prescriptions. Yay. Anitibiotics, a steroid nasal spray, and Singulair (to take every day. Ugh).
So fast forward, I'm at Walgreens picking up my stuff. The guy inputs my new insurance info, and says he'll just need to call Blue Cross to confirm. Okay, sounds lovely. Spends like 20 minutes on hold with them, who eventually tell him that my coverage ended at the end of August. I say no, that's not possible considering it just started in the middle of August! So I go out to the car, call HR here, who tells me that our prescription drug carrier switched, did I not get my new card?, gave me all the info, and then marched back inside for my $110 worth of drugs. On the plus side, I met my prescription drug deductible on just the fifth day of the year! Woo, yay me.
So dentist tomorrow, though it was supposed to be re-filling 7 cavities and now looks like it will be analyzing my abscess situation, consdering a root canal (God I hope not), and re-scheduling my re-fillings. Sigh.
Other than that... no news. Love you, miss you. <3

The Holidays
So, I have a lot to say, but I'm completely wiped out, so I don't know how long it will actually be. I went home to Dallas for Christmas for 4 and 1/2 days. We only had one yelling and screaming match (which is very good odds for my family), and we watched Marley and Me and I cried lots. Youshi is going to have to live forever...I'll be sure to let him know this. Lee and Chelsea finally decided on a wedding date...Dec. 19th of next year, which (if they keep it) means that I will have entirely too much family time. Chelsea also asked me to be her maid of honor...awww. Other than that nothing exciting. New Years was fun but not as much fun as spending time with you guys last year! We just chilled at my house with lots of fattening food and watched Mama Mia. Amanda and her b/f, Josh, also came over to play. Patti was in town from Arkansas, so she was also here. THEN! (this is my favorite part :) ) we skied yesterday and the day before. I absolutely love it!!!! My body contorted in ways I never knew possible. At one point in time, I looked to my left and saw my foot right beside my head....it is not supposed to be there. :) I'm really really super sore now, but it was totally worth it. I think I'm going to pick it up as a hobby. I would totally live here just for the skiing. Ok, I think that's the quick debriefing. I hope you both are doing well!! Love you and miss you lots!!!
