New Year's

I'll write again too. Christmas was good, nothing super special. Pictures on Facebook. :) I got to see Kim for a day, which was FANtastic and made my life. *gush* Doug got a puppy for his birthday, so I spent the better part of two weeks playing with him. That's Nick and me, to the left. Nick as in Saint Nicholas. Precious. I was hoping to get a dog this month, but with a few unexpected financial things, I am not sure if that's feasible (financial nonsense below). Sad day.

So I got back to Texas on Saturday, and at first was actually pretty down about it. Part of it though, I think, was feeling super isolated since I saw no one at all. Now that we're back in the swing of things, socializing and what not, it's kind of okay. Just gotta get in the groove since my new RAs move in on Thursday and returners are back on Friday. Yay, woo. Training is Friday-Monday, then students slowly start trickling back. Yay.
So the recent news is that my face exploded. Ugh. So just before Thanksgiving, the tooth I have a crown on was giving me problems, then it went away by the time I went to the dentist in December, he said no biggie. Last week, it started hurting again, but I could never pin-point it on that tooth. New Year's Day or so, my gums started really hurting and I thought 'Um, okay, weird.' It gradually kept hurting, got a little worse, but I just prayed it'd go away! Come Saturday, combined with pressure from flying back, it got real bad, and by Sunday morning my left cheek and jawline was swelled. I thought it was in my head until this morning, when I yawned and thought 'Oooooh, that's no good.' The first thing our admin assistants said to me was "Is your face swollen? Did you have surgery? What happened?" Then I realized it wasn't in my head. One of them told me she thought it was an abscess. Ew. So I raced down to the minor emergency clinic, confirmed it was an abscess, got yelled at for not really taking my allergy medications, and got 3 prescriptions. Yay. Anitibiotics, a steroid nasal spray, and Singulair (to take every day. Ugh).
So fast forward, I'm at Walgreens picking up my stuff. The guy inputs my new insurance info, and says he'll just need to call Blue Cross to confirm. Okay, sounds lovely. Spends like 20 minutes on hold with them, who eventually tell him that my coverage ended at the end of August. I say no, that's not possible considering it just started in the middle of August! So I go out to the car, call HR here, who tells me that our prescription drug carrier switched, did I not get my new card?, gave me all the info, and then marched back inside for my $110 worth of drugs. On the plus side, I met my prescription drug deductible on just the fifth day of the year! Woo, yay me.
So dentist tomorrow, though it was supposed to be re-filling 7 cavities and now looks like it will be analyzing my abscess situation, consdering a root canal (God I hope not), and re-scheduling my re-fillings. Sigh.
Other than that... no news. Love you, miss you. <3
